Enjoy Golf In Southern Spain -Costa Del Sol Golf Villas
The Mijas Golf Resort is located just half an hours drive from Malaga airport. Take the Fuengirola Coin turn off from the motorway and follow the road named Camino Viejo de Coin. The course is about 3 and a half kilometers from the motorway. Mijas Golf Resort has made a great effort to fill the needs of its many players who desires to play golf in Malaga on the Costa del Sol, and to that end, the course comes with all amenities. There is a practice area, buggy hire, manual and electric trolleys, putting green, places to get a drink and a bite to eat, shop, changing rooms, bathing facilities and parking. Furthermore, running throughout the grounds, there are places to buy water and other drinks plus toilets. There is furthermore the option to participate in golf technique lessons. Mijas Golf Resort offers two Golf Courses: Los Olivos founded in 1983/84 & Los Lagos founded in 1976. Both courses are designed by Robert Trent Senior. The main feature which distinguishes Los Olivos from Los Lagos is the abundance of trees - hence the name - and its smaller size, as well as fewer water hazards. The greens are smaller, undulating and well defended. Although both are created by the same designer, there is beyond doubt interesting contrasts between the two golf courses: if Los Lagos are based on hazards of water and sand, Los Olivos is strategic narrow tree lined fairways and elevated greens. Generally the course caters for the precision golfer rather than the big hitter. Los Lagos is a ground course with wide fairways and quite a few trees hazards, but is defended by many bunkers and 9 water areas, from which the course gets its name and which easily trap the ball. It is a course with soft movement and large greens. It could be said that the American designer intended to present a course especially for amateurs, but simultaneously, it can present a challenge for the best golfers. One of "Los Lagos" most characteristic and demanding holes is the par 5 thirteenth. Seen from elevated tees it looks deceptively easy but at the approach to the green there is water left and right, also beware of the slope as even a good shot is in danger of sending the ball into the water. The 5th a 571 meter monster, is also "interesting". The course is just about free of rough and is effectively flat except for a slight incline up the 18th hole. There is an amazing selection of restaurants and bars within the golf resort, whilst the nearby town of Fuengirola also offers a range of restaurants, along with a cinema and a variety of shops. The atmospheric white pueblo of Mijas, legendary for its donkey-drawn taxis, sits high atop the mountains with breathtaking views of the Mediterranean and a number of municipalities of the Costa del Sol below. Within just a ten minute drive lies some of the best blue flag golden beaches you can imagine, offering you the perfect setting for peace and relaxation. In between playing you don't have to be bored as the Costa del Sol offers more sights to explore than you can possibly manage & your Mijas Golf Villa offer luxurious relaxation by the pool.
